Training Course on “International Trade Environment of Rubber – One of Key Agricultural Products of Viet Nam” for Top and Middle Managers of Rubber Export Enterprises and Senior Officials in-charge of 18.01.2012 In cooperation with College of Management for Agriculture and Rural Development (CMARD2), Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam (AIT-VN) successfully organized a Training Course on "International Trade Environment of Rubber - One of Key Agricultural Products of Viet Nam" from 3 -5 October 2011 in Ho Chi Minh City. 
There were about 28 participants who are in charge of trade and business plans of rubber export enterprises and/or involving in promoting of rubber production and trading, such as company directors, business managers, middle and senior officers and experts. They came from different agencies, such as Vietnam Rubber Association; Vietnam Rubber Corporation; Rubber One-Member Liability Companies of Dong Nai, Ba Ria, Loc Ninh, Phu Rieng, Binh Thuan, Tan Bien, Binh Long, Mai Thao; Rubber Joint Stock Companies of Phuoc Hoa, Dong Phu, Tay Ninh, Hoa Binh; and CMARD2. 
After the training, the participants will be able to have a better understanding about international trade environment for rubber sector, including knowledge on relevant regional and international trade agreement, prospects for trade integration and competition, destination markets, existing and emerging exporters and the trading prospects and competitors of the rubber sector. The participants will also be able to analyze the opportunities and challenges for their rubber sector in general and for their own enterprises in particular. The course was much appreciated by the participants. The overall evaluation mark reflecting the participants' satisfaction was 8.83 (scale of 10). The participants particularly were interested in discussion sessions. Discussion issues during the training course covered (1) whether the tyre sector or general rubber product will rapidly increase; (2) what will happen when the producing rubber countries increase their demands; (3) what will affect to the rubber sector during the implementing towards WTO membership; (4) whether natural rubber can be listed as an industrial product; (5) given the current natural rubber situation, if you are an investor, whether you decide to invest in natural rubber planting and production? and why? (6) your viewpoint and justification on price trend of natural rubber for short, medium and long term.
