National Consultation workshop on "Financing Bio and Renewable Energy Development in Vietnam" 19.07.2010 On 15 July 2010, AITVN in collaboration with FAO-RAP organized a National Consultation Workshop on "Financing the Bio and Renewable Energy Development in Vietnam" at Sofitel Saigon Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City. The workshop aims to collect information and recommendation on who are the actors involved in financing the BRE sector, what are the conditions for investors to access to these financial sources, and what are the factors needed for financial institutions to involve more in the BRE sector. The workshop attracted 35 participants from main financial institutions and NGOs (Vietnam Development Bank, Dragon Capital, HCMC Finance and Investment State-Owned Company, WB, Jica), city and provincial DOST, DONRE and DOIT, and state and private enterprises. The participants highly appreciated AITVN efforts in organizing this event, which they saw as the first in Vietnam touching this bottle-neck financing issue. The participants come up with various useful recommendations including the needs to establish an Association on Renewable Energy in Vietnam and a capacity building program for government, banks and enterprises.
